#Purim2015isComing to UAlbany! Let’s celebrate…

PURIM NIGHT WED 3/4 CARNIVAL, MEGILLAH & MASQUERADE

This year Lchaim is planning a big carnival event in the UAlbany Campus Center Ballroom for Purim Night, March 4th (that’s an easy date to remember). Please note these updated times.

Megillah 7pm followed by some light food and Masquerade.

Carnival begins 8pm. All in the UAlbany Campus Center Ballroom.

In addition to Megillah Reading and Masquerade (yes, think of a costume!) a fun-filled carnival is being planned, with activity booths by various groups, Velcro-Wall and Bungee-Hoops bounces, MagnetMan photo-booth, Purim Points to Ponder Mural, Hamantasch Fondue and refreshments and entertainment.

Here are a few things you can do ahead of time!
1) spread the word, invite friends!
2) think of a costume! masquerade is great Purim fun, no need to come in costume but it adds a lot and we do give out awards in several categories.
3) Volunteer to help with event, run a booth (as individuals or student groups), help setup etc..
4) What’s your angle for our Purim mural of triangles (the Hamantasch shape)? Called Purim Points to Ponder, think ahead of an image or message you can fill one triangle with…

PURIM DAY THURS 3/5… 3 SMALLER PURIM EVENTS

It’s a Mitzvah to hear the Megillah both on Purim Night and Purim Day. In addition, on Purim Day we have the Mitzvot of Mishloach Manot (sharing packages of food), and Charity for the Poor. We will be reading the Megillah at least two days during Purim Day, possibly more, see below when works best for you:

A) 8:30am Morning Minyan at Shabbos House with Tefillin, Torah Reading and Megillah plus a Purim breakfast.

B) 11-2 Mishloach Manot Table in the Lecture Centers. Stop by to pick up your free Mishloach Manot with a “Shabbat-To-Go” theme and possibly some super-quick Megillah readings available as well.

C) 4:45pm Triple M: Megillah, Meal and a surprise M. at Shabbos House.
