There’s lots happening at Shabbos House (and in the Jewish UAlbany community) this first week back after Thanksgiving 2016. See details below:

11/29: TORAH-TUESDAY

This is the second to last Torah-Tues of the Fall semester. The topic is “Life and Times of Rabbi Yochanon ben Zakkai” a pivotal figure during and after the destruction of the Temple. Series of Talmud selections with your input on what made this Rabbi different to stand out in history. Class times and dinner is at: 5:45, 7:45 and 8:45pm.

11/30: PICKLE TABLE ON CAMPUS

——– STILL UP IN THE AIR —- working out some logistical stuff about the table. Not sure yet when/where it might be. May have to reschedule. Stay tuned!

We’re coming to campus with crispy flavorful Kosher Dill pickles for you to enjoy along with cucumbers and brine for your to pickle your own! All this comes with a zesty life-message from Tanya chapter 27. We should be there from 11am to 2pm.

11/30: GIRLS NITE-IN!

This month’s theme is Israeli Dance, and our instructor will be our very own Kayla Hamburg, leading girls in Israeli dance with a California twist. 8pm at Shabbos House with light refreshments.

12/2: FRIDAY NIGHT AT SHABBOS HOUSE

Prayers 6pm and Dinner at 7pm. Shabbat is Shabbat, but we might add some special touches this week. Stay tuned!

12/3: SAT NIGHT PRE-CHANUKAH JAM

Chanukah falls this year after the start of Winter Break, so we’re doing a Pre-Chanukah Jam with live music and a Latke Eating Contest on Saturday Night, 7pm (with time to do other things afterwards).

There are also a number of UAlbany Hillel events this week, including Humus Making on Monday at Interfaith Center, Tuesday Schmoozeday in the Hillel Office, and a big pre-Chanukah Casino Night event in the Campus Center Balloom on December 8th…
