Wow, what a semester! Here we are at the last week of the Fall 2016 semester at UAlbany, people are already over their heads in study but we still have some nice events going on for students as Finals Week begins.

MINYAN BRUNCH

Sunday 12/11 (and hopefully the 18th, too). Minyan 11am with Tefillin, plus a nice brunch with bagels and shmears, usually eggs, and we also study a little Talmud – this year about upstairs and downstairs neighbor issues.

HILLEL CASINO NIGHT

Sunday 8pm in Campus Center Ballroom. $5 gets you in. All kinds of table-games run by Hillel, and there’s an iPad for a prize. Proceeds go to JNF – the Jewish National Fund.

MIDNIGHT BREAKFAST

Monday 12/12 10pm-12:30am: We do this unusual event once (or sometimes twice) a year, the night before Reading Day. Called “Midnight” we start at 10pm and go until midnight or shortly thereafter. It’s an informal kind of thing, we serve waffles and ice-cream, breakfast cereals, sometimes french toast or pancakes, stuff like that. We show some kind of light film and people hang around and chill a bit before Finals Week begins.

No Torah-Tuesday this week. We concluded the Fall semester with “Holy Sites” powerpoint presentation. New lineup in the works for Spring. Any ideas? desire to present? speak to Rabbi Mendel

KOSHER SNACKS FOR FINALS

We’re hoping to take the Mitzvah-Trike for a spin a couple of times this Finals Week (probably Tues-Thurs) to deliver some Kosher Snacks for Finals. Still working out details, stay tuned for how we’re going to go about this.

FINALS WEEK SHABBAT

Yes, we are on for Shabbat! And yes, if your parents will be here for Friday Night dinner or Shabbat afternoon lunch they are very welcome to join us or just stop by. As usual this time of year, Friday Night prayers 6pm, dinner 7pm. Sat Day: Prayers 10am, Lunch 12:30pm

TORAH STUDY OVER BREAK

If this is something you’d be interested in, please speak to Rabbi Mendel and Raizy, as there’s a bunch of programs available, both locally, in Florida and in Israel, and travel subsidies available from Chabad on Campus. Some programs are for a few days, some take up most of break, each has their uniqueness and special appeal.

and best of luck and much success with finals!
