On Thursday of Sukkot 5783, October 13, 2022, we had a special dedication ceremony at Shabbos House dedicating “Herman’s Sukkah” deck in memory of Dr. Herman Prins Salomon.
Due to heavy rain the ceremony and celebration program had to be indoors but thankfully for the rest of Sukkot all our holiday meals were able to be out in the Sukkah this year!

Rabbi Mendel emceed the program with words shared by alumna Sheryl Hoffman Cepler, Mr. Dan Jacobowitz who prayed here with Herman for many years, Rabbi Israel Rubin who goes back with Herman to 1975 and the start of Shabbos House and Raizy Rubin who shared Herman’s special connection to Sukkot.
We took a group photo with the new handcrafted “Herman’s Sukkah” sign, and souvenirs included long-sleeve “Like a Room without a Roof” tshirts, and new custom kippas in school colors.
There was a elegant buffet with freshly made Sushi by Mr. Fuji (on-site Kosher at Shabbos House), salmon on a stick, bourekas, salads and lots of desserts.
