This 5786/2026 year, the 27th of Iyar 2nd yartzeit of Reb Moshe Kotlarsky, the global ambassador for the Rebbe’s Shlichus endeavors, falls on Thursday, the 5th reading of Parsha Bamidbar.

Bamidbar Day 5 tells us the Levite tribe should be counted from as young as 30 days old. Not only from conscription age or age of service but even as infants.

Reb Moshe treated the world of Shlichus this way, where even young children of Shluchim were considered full-fledged Shluchim, fully counted, and treated with special programs & services geared to them. This is Rebbe’s vision, but Reb Moshe played an outsized role in implementing it, bringing it to life.

Reb Moshe Kotlarsky took much pride in “opening new countries” & in the mitzvah campaigns, but personally, it was his palpable concern & tremendous efforts & advocacy for the physical & personal needs of Shluchim & their families that I’ll remember most.
