2025 was our first time doing the Goodyear Fair on campus, now looking forward to bringing it back for Fall 2026! This doubles as a pre-Rosh-Hashanah cultural awareness before the High Holidays and also as a general sweet start to a new year on campus – may it be a good one! This year on the 2nd Monday of classes, last day of August 2026…
Goodyear is of course a play on words based on the well-known tire company and the Hebrew Rosh Hashanah wish/greeting “Shana Tova” which literally mean: Good Year. See this post for some life-lesson connections between a new good year and automobile tires.
GoodYear Fair – Monday, Aug 31st, 11am-3pm at the Small Fountain
we’ll be a cluster of interactive tables on one side of the fountain, everything is free

*Why “Chai”? Chai is Hebrew for “Life” and the high holiday prayerbook is full of references to life and the Book of Life. Chai also has the Hebrew numerical value of 18. This year’s Goodyear Fair is on August 31st 2026, which corresponds to the Hebrew date of the 18th of Elul, aka “Chai (18th of) Elul” a Chassidic holiday which celebrates the birthdays of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe.
