A. First of all, they have off from school for the whole week of Passover and Sukkot holidays, and are at home or synagogue for the first two and last two days of the holidays, so this is a great way to get out, enjoy some quality family time and let off some steam.

Also, Chol-HaMoed literally means “a weekday holiday” so while we can drive, use electronics and do everyday things, it still retains some holiday spirit and flavor. So its especially meaningful and most memorable to do things together as a family, whether it be a trip to the zoo, museums, unusual stores that we present as museums, amusement rides, or just a day out in the park or nature preserve.

Our kids look forward to these outings and it takes some creativity and enthusiasm on our end to come up with new places (that are both family and wallet-friendly) and make it exciting and memorable for kids of all ages. But this is actually a challenge that I personally enjoy and am pretty good at.
